About Us

Founded in 2007, Brasken Labradoodles began with a chance encounter at Universal Studios Hollywood, where Brandon and Kristen Silva first met an Australian Labradoodle in service training. Instantly captivated by the breed’s intelligence and temperament, they turned their passion into a respected breeding program.

Committed to raising exceptional Labradoodles, Brasken Labradoodles keeps a select number of breeding dogs at home while placing others in loving guardian homes. Every dog receives top-quality care, regular health checkups, and a nurturing family environment.

Labradoodles were originally bred to be allergy-friendly service dogs, combining the Labrador Retriever’s loyalty with the Poodle’s hypoallergenic coat. Today, Brasken Labradoodles continue this legacy, breeding multi-generational Labradoodles known for their temperament, health, and trainability.

Northern California Factors Affecting Labradoodles

Northern California’s unique climate and lifestyle can influence the health, care, and happiness of Labradoodles. Whether you live in the cooler coastal areas or the warmer inland valleys, understanding these factors will help your Labradoodle thrive in its environment.

  • Climate and Temperature Variations – Northern California experiences a mix of coastal fog, dry inland heat, and seasonal rain. Labradoodles with thicker coats may need extra grooming in warmer regions like Fresno, while those in cooler areas like San Francisco may appreciate their natural insulation.
  • Allergens and Air Quality – Areas like the Central Valley can experience higher pollen levels and seasonal wildfire smoke, which may affect dogs with sensitivities. Regular grooming and air filtration at home can help keep your Labradoodle comfortable.
  • Outdoor Lifestyle and Activities – With access to hiking trails, beaches, and parks, Northern California offers an active lifestyle that suits Labradoodles well. However, owners should be mindful of leash laws, off-leash areas, and potential hazards like foxtails or ticks in wooded areas.
  • Urban vs. Rural Living – Labradoodles adapt well to both city and suburban life.
  • Access to Veterinary Care and Breeder Support – Northern California has excellent veterinary services, and we are close as well.

Types of Labradoodles We Breed

We offer many different types of Labradoodles:

Our Breeding Standards

At Brasken Labradoodles, the highest breeding standards come first. We do everything necessary to raise healthy and well-tempered puppies, a perfect fit for loving families. Our breeding program is built on ethics.

Comprehensive Health Testing

We conduct extensive health screenings on all our breeding dogs to guarantee they are free from genetic conditions commonly found in Labradoodles. This includes testing for hip and elbow dysplasia, eye diseases, and other hereditary concerns to promote strong, long-lived puppies.

Temperament and Socialization

From birth, our puppies are exposed to various sights, sounds, and experiences to help them develop into confident, well-adjusted companions. We follow structured socialization protocols, including Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), to create a calm and friendly temperament.

Ethical Breeding

We prioritize responsible breeding, which means we never overbreed our dogs and each parent dog has a high quality of life. Many of our breeding dogs live in loving guardian homes, where they are part of a family rather than a kennel-based program.

Optimal Nutrition and Care

Proper nutrition plays a crucial role in the early development of our puppies. We provide high-quality, nutrient-rich diets for both our parent dogs and their litters. Puppies also receive regular veterinary checkups and deworming.

Support for Families

Our commitment to our puppies doesn’t end when they leave for their forever homes. We offer ongoing support and guidance to new owners, helping them with training, health concerns, and any questions that arise throughout their Labradoodle’s life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Choose a breeder who focuses on health and temperament over mass production. They should offer health guarantees, perform genetic testing, and allow you to meet the parent dogs. A good breeder will be open, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in their puppies’ long-term well-being. If a breeder refuses to answer questions or rushes the sale, that’s a red flag.

Australian Labradoodles come from multi-generational breeding, incorporating additional breeds like the Cocker Spaniel for consistent coats and temperament. Regular Labradoodles are typically first-generation mixes between a Labrador and a Poodle. Another difference between Australian and regular Labradoodles is that Australian puppies tend to have a bit more predictable traits, especially regarding coat type and allergy-friendliness.

Most reputable breeders welcome visits, although some may have policies to protect young puppies from outside germs. Visiting allows you to see the living conditions, meet the parent dogs, and assess the breeder’s practices. If a breeder refuses visits or lacks transparency, that’s a warning sign.

Choosing a local breeder allows you to visit in person. Local puppies also adjust more easily to the regional climate and environment. Plus, you avoid long-distance travel stress for the puppy and can get ongoing breeder support more easily.
